心靈 = soul (心 heart/mind/core + 靈 spirit/soul)
相通 = interlinked/connected
(相 mutually/with each other + 通 understand/whole/smooth/coherent)

Likemindedness. Connectedness.

心 core, 靈 soul 相 mutual, 通 whole/coherent: depict souls connected.


Similar to “great minds think alike,” but 心靈相通 emphasizes the core and soul. This describes two entities that come to the same conclusion, same desire and understanding from different paths. 



Told parents about a recent bike-backpacking trip and how I had packed ingredients for a surprise lunch...only to find that the other person also purchased the exact same things. This was down to every ingredients and even the same drink – which was actually 王老吉 (Wong Lo Kat), an herbal drink. 



Mom and Dad both immediately said, “心靈相通. Inside the heart, think the same thing. Lurng gah, yut num, yut yurng yeh. Two, one thought, the same thing.”
