A Story

愛情 = love (愛 love + 情sentiment )
不可 = cannot (不 not + 可 can)
勉強 = forced (勉 urge + 強 strong/compel/force )

Love cannot be forced. Love happens naturally. You cannot compel or will something to work, if it doesn’t work.

This was a sweet sentiment shared with me by my mom and dad to essentially say: that’s okay, some things don’t work, we just move on. I appreciate this in that it feels accepting. It’s not worth forcing or fighting against the nature or will of something, such as the nature of a relationship that is not compatible. Things not working out is a part of life. Some things are hard, but it’s okay, we can let go.
