硬 = tough / hard / stiff / strong

蟻 = ant

A way to describe a very small, but muscular and pumped up person.

Mom described an uncle as such – I did a double-take and laughed. Hadn’t heard this before, but it was a perfect characterization of a short-and-small, but tough cookie.

硬頸 = stiff-neck (stubborn)

The same 硬 stiff is also used in 硬頸 meaning stiff-neck, a person who is stubborn.
