波 = wave (氵water + 皮 skin (sound))

Water 氵and an "oh" sound created with the use of the skin radical 皮 (pei4) makes wave 波.

The 皮 skin radical, is the same used in grandma 婆 and slope 坡: where the "oh" sound is created with the use of 皮 for both.

You can also see that the entire character 波 of wave is seen in grandma 婆 as well. 婆 grandma has 波wave with the radical 女 woman underneath. Hmm. Does that mean something?
