佛 = Buddha / Buddhist / Buddhism / image or statue of Buddha
(亻 person + 弗 the sound fat1 (弓 bow + 儿 legs?))
In Wing Chun, 三拜佛 Saam-Bai-Fut refers to the Buddhist concept of bowing or praying three times.
3.9.23 Day 4
In 小念頭 Siu Nim Tau, we do 一攤二伏 one taan, two fok, we do hand replacement three times, we do three straight punches in succession. Why 3? We must think of the Chinese cultural roots of kung fu. Wing Chun has a basis in Buddhism and in Buddhist meditation and prayer, one bows three times to Buddha and to ancestors.
